It’s an honour to be best man, and whilst you may be ecstatic when you hear the news, nerves are bound to kick in nearer the wedding day. As best man there is some pressure on you, after all, the guests want your speech to be funny, yet sincere and moving.
Your main aim on the day is to not lose the rings and lend a hand whenever anybody needs it, but the speech does need to be funny. No pressure! Here are our top tips:
Write notes early doors – You shouldn’t leave the speech until the last minute, because it can take some time to jog your memory and come up with funny stories form the past.
Edit, edit and edit again – When you’ve finished writing it, practice it, make changes if needed and keep going over it.
Stay calm – The speech will go quickly, and people do want you to do well. They will laugh at the bits you don’t even find that funny, and at the end of the day, every one wants to laugh, so keep calm.
